Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cameroon implements Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programmes. This role, under the direct supervision of the MHPSS Officer, will contribute to the implementation of these activities across various regions within Cameroon, supporting the overall mission objectives.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to contribute to the effective implementation of IOM’s Mental Health and Psychosocial Programme (MHPSS) activities throughout Cameroon. The incumbent will ensure that MHPSS programming aligns with IOM's strategic and operational plans, adhering to both organizational and donor requirements. This involves providing technical support to MHPSS teams, promoting partnerships with civil society organizations, and contributing to needs assessments and the development of operational plans to enhance psychosocial services. The role also involves training staff and partners, adapting programming to local contexts, and assisting in the preparation of project proposals and reports.
Responsibilities
Ensure MHPSS programming aligns with IOM's strategic and operational plans in Cameroon and complies with IOM and donor requirements for procurement, budget, and human resources. Provide technical support to mental health and psychosocial teams, overseeing the timely and effective execution of project activities and efficient use of funding. Foster partnerships and capacity building with civil society organizations through training and networking. Participate in MHPSS meetings and working groups with stakeholders. Supervise psychosocial mobile team leaders for technical and operational oversight of community-based programmes. Contribute to needs assessments, research, and the design of operational plans to improve psychosocial service access. Deliver training sessions on MHPSS subjects to IOM staff, partners, and local government. Support the cultural adaptation of programming and translation of materials. Assist in preparing project proposals, reports, and public information materials.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) programmes, community-based team supervision, monitoring and evaluation, and beneficiary data management with adherence to data protection guidelines. Desirable experience includes leadership roles and familiarity with IASC guidelines on MHPSS in emergency settings. Fluency in French and English for technical communication is also required.
