Organizational Context
Within the framework of the MPRR and RRR projects, IOM is strengthening its Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems to ensure the quality and impact of its interventions for migrants and host communities. The MEAL Assistant role is crucial for supporting regular activity monitoring, reliable data collection, and establishing accountability mechanisms for beneficiaries and stakeholders.
Job Purpose
The MEAL Assistant (G-4) plays a vital role in supporting IOM's commitment to enhancing its MEAL systems within the MPRR and RRR projects. The primary purpose is to ensure the quality, transparency, and impact of interventions for migrants and host communities. This involves actively supporting regular monitoring of project activities, ensuring the collection of reliable data, and assisting in the establishment of effective accountability mechanisms for beneficiaries and stakeholders. The role also contributes to documenting lessons learned to continuously improve program quality and effectiveness, working collaboratively with program, protection, and management teams.
Responsibilities
The MEAL Assistant will support program teams in monitoring reintegration, assistance, and awareness activities, verifying data accuracy, and collecting data on migrant assistance and community initiatives. They will assist in beneficiary feedback processes, including data collection, recording, and timely information transmission. The role involves participating in field monitoring missions, documenting beneficiary progress, and performing routine data entry and preliminary verification. Additionally, the assistant will support the preparation of MEAL reports, assist in organizing surveys and assessments, and document MEAL activities, good practices, and lessons learned. They will also provide administrative support for partner coordination, manage feedback and complaints mechanisms, and assist in tracking recommendations from evaluations and audits.
Work Experience
Requires two years of relevant professional experience in MEAL or project management. Experience with international standards, humanitarian fields, or working with vulnerable communities is highly desirable. Familiarity with data collection tools, survey methodologies, and reporting is also beneficial.
Skills
Strong knowledge of MEAL concepts and tools. Excellent writing, analytical, data presentation, and visualization skills. Proficiency in data management software (e.g., Excel, KoboToolbox, ODK). Ability to support data cleaning, analysis, and reporting. Skills in facilitating training and managing feedback/complaints mechanisms.
