Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) implements Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programs to assist migrants returning to their home countries. This role, as a Project Associate (Reintegration) at Grade G5, is crucial for supporting the implementation and monitoring of these AVRR activities within Cameroon, operating under the direct supervision of the Senior Reintegration Associate.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate (Reintegration) plays a vital role in supporting IOM's Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programs. The primary purpose of this position is to provide essential technical, administrative, and operational support to ensure the effective execution of AVRR activities. This involves assisting migrants who wish to voluntarily return to their country of origin and facilitating their sustainable reintegration. The role contributes directly to the successful implementation and monitoring of AVRR initiatives, aligning with IOM's policies and procedures to offer comprehensive assistance to beneficiaries throughout their return and reintegration journey.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will welcome, inform, and guide beneficiaries on return and reintegration assistance options, contributing to the effective implementation of AVRR activities from return to reintegration. Key duties include close monitoring of beneficiaries and administrative case management, creating and updating individual beneficiary files, and managing logistics and finance files for reintegration projects. The role involves facilitating business plan drafting for returnees, guiding them in setting up businesses, and providing information on necessary documentation and potential challenges. Additionally, the associate will collect IOM service fees, support efficient case handling, and ensure the sustainable reintegration of returned migrants through personalized support and local monitoring. This includes delivering information sessions, conducting field visits, collecting data for reports, and supporting workshops and training sessions. The role also requires assessing beneficiary needs, identifying vulnerabilities, proposing solutions, and ensuring the confidentiality and protection of beneficiary data.
Work Experience
Experience in migration and/or protection is required, with prior experience working with mixed migrant populations on protection and direct assistance being essential. The role requires experience communicating with diverse actors, including culturally diverse individuals, government authorities, and humanitarian organizations. Proficiency in Microsoft applications and strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are necessary. Experience in Agriculture, Livelihoods, Migration, Environment and Climate Change, or Gender is considered an asset.
Skills
Required skills include experience in case management, Counter Trafficking, AVRR, or other protection programming. Experience delivering AVRR trainings is essential. Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are necessary for effective representation and liaison. Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel, is required. The candidate must be flexible for overtime and willing to collaborate with and support individuals from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.
