Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) implements Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programs to assist migrants returning to their home countries. This role supports the AVRR program in Cameroon, operating under the Chief of Mission and National Reintegration Officer, providing crucial technical, administrative, and operational support for program execution.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate (Reintegration) is responsible for providing comprehensive technical, administrative, and operational support to ensure the effective implementation and monitoring of IOM's Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) programs. This involves assisting migrants throughout their return and reintegration journey, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures. The role contributes to the sustainable reintegration of migrants by facilitating access to necessary resources and support, thereby upholding IOM's mandate in assisting migrants wishing to return and rebuild their lives.
Responsibilities
Key duties include welcoming and informing beneficiaries about return and reintegration options, managing individual beneficiary files, and updating databases. The role involves monitoring logistics and finance for reintegration projects, and facilitating business plan development for returnees. Responsibilities also encompass collecting service fees, supporting case management until satisfactory completion, and assisting in the sustainable reintegration of migrants through personalized support and local monitoring. Additionally, the position requires staying informed on AVRR developments, delivering information sessions, conducting field visits, collecting data for reports, and supporting the organization of workshops and training sessions for beneficiaries and partners.
Work Experience
Experience in migration, protection, and working with diverse migrant populations is required. Prior experience in case management, counter-trafficking, or AVRR programming is essential. Experience in delivering AVRR trainings, strong communication and interpersonal skills, computer literacy (Microsoft Office), and the ability to work under pressure are necessary. Experience in Agriculture, Livelihoods, MEEC, or Gender is considered an asset.
