Job Purpose
This internship aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration-related fields. The intern will provide essential support to the Human Resources Unit within the IOM Country Office in Cairo, Egypt. Working under the supervision of the Head of Resources Management and the National Human Resources Officer, the intern will gain practical experience in HR operations. The role contributes to the efficient functioning of the HR unit, supporting outreach, recruitment processes, onboarding, reporting, and HR-related events, thereby assisting IOM in its mission to promote humane and orderly migration.
Responsibilities
The HR Intern will support outreach by publicizing vacancy announcements. Key duties include scheduling interviews, coordinating written tests, and assisting with new hires' email creation and asset preparation. The intern will attend HR meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up on action points. Responsibilities also involve compiling HR content for presentations and newsletters, assisting with HR reports, and providing logistical support for HR initiatives like town halls and training sessions. Additionally, the intern will help coordinate onboarding, monitor mandatory training completion, and maintain digital HR records. Support for absence and teleworking management, including report extraction and issue flagging, is also required, along with other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Previous experience in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is beneficial. Experience with administrative tasks, document management, and absence management is desirable. Exposure to event planning, training coordination, or employee engagement activities, particularly in a multicultural or international setting, is an advantage.
Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, including the ability to draft professional emails, reports, and presentations. The role requires active listening, data analysis, task prioritization, and strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams) are necessary. The ability to collaborate effectively across teams and strong interpersonal skills for engaging with staff and stakeholders are also important.
