Job Purpose
The Finance Associate plays a crucial role in supporting IOM's mission by ensuring the effective management of financial resources. The role involves assisting in budget preparation, monitoring financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with IOM's financial rules and regulations. By maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with reporting, the Finance Associate directly supports the operational efficiency and accountability of IOM's programs and activities, enabling the organization to better serve governments and migrants.
Responsibilities
The Finance Associate is responsible for assisting in the management of financial resources, including monitoring and controlling assets, reserves, and funds in accordance with IOM regulations. This includes supporting the preparation of annual budget submissions and revisions, estimating costs for staff, operations, and contracts. The role involves extracting and inputting data into financial systems, verifying payments and vendor claims for accuracy and compliance, and performing claim verifications against supporting documentation. Additionally, the Finance Associate assists in preparing various financial reports, provides support for staff services such as travel and expense claims, ensures the proper completion of accounting documents, and manages the office's petty cash.
Work Experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook) is required. Previous experience with Oracle is advantageous. Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations or in a multi-cultural setting is also an advantage.
