Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN-related organization dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. As the leading UN agency in migration, IOM collaborates with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners, providing services and advice to governments and migrants. This role contributes to IOM's commitment to fostering a professional and thriving workplace.
Job Purpose
The Senior PSEAH Associate plays a crucial role in advancing IOM's commitment to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) and Sexual Harassment (SEAH) within its operations in Chad. This position supports the development and implementation of comprehensive PSEAH strategies, ensuring that IOM's programs and personnel adhere to the highest standards of conduct and accountability. The role is instrumental in safeguarding vulnerable populations, preventing harm, and fostering a safe environment for all individuals interacting with IOM's services. By coordinating prevention, response, and reporting mechanisms, the Associate contributes significantly to IOM's mandate of promoting humane migration and upholding the dignity and rights of migrants.
Responsibilities
The Senior PSEAH Associate is responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of the operational PSEAH Work Plan, aligning it with IOM and UN frameworks, and ensuring PSEAH is integrated into the Country Office Strategy and programming. This includes mainstreaming SEAH risk considerations into proposals, monitoring, evaluation, and budgeting, as well as developing PSEAH programming and liaising with donors. The role involves contributing to the in-country interagency PSEA Network and participating in IOM internal coordination. Responsibilities also extend to supporting risk assessments, developing and delivering PSEAH trainings for staff and partners, and compiling training data. Furthermore, the Associate will contribute to communication strategies, mapping community engagement projects, and strengthening reporting channels. In response, the role supports the development of victim assistance pathways, safe referral of disclosures, and monitoring of risks for victims/survivors, ensuring coordination with relevant teams.
Work Experience
Required experience includes work in protection from sexual exploitation and abuse, sexual harassment, child protection, gender-based violence, accountability to affected populations (AAP), gender mainstreaming, or humanitarian affairs. Experience in managing SEAH/GBV cases, UN system coordination, developing training and communication materials, conducting risk assessments, and proposal development is also essential.
Skills
Key skills include the ability to work effectively across diverse sectors on cross-cutting themes, strong written and oral communication for representation and liaison, and the capacity to organize work independently under pressure.
