Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. The Regional Support Office (RSO) of the Bali Process on People Smuggling, Trafficking in Persons and Related Transnational Crime was established to facilitate regional cooperation in the Asia and Pacific region. This role contributes to the RSO's Transnational Crime and Technology Team.
Job Purpose
This Programme Officer role, based in Bangkok, Thailand, supports the Regional Support Office (RSO) of the Bali Process. The primary purpose is to assist in the RSO's engagement with stakeholders and implement activities within the Transnational Crime and Technology (TCT) workplan. The role contributes to the RSO's overall objective of reducing irregular migration and strengthening practical cooperation on refugee protection and international migration issues in the Asia and Pacific region. The position is crucial for the operationalization of the Regional Cooperative Framework and supports the Bali Process's mandate to address people smuggling, trafficking, and related transnational crimes through enhanced regional collaboration.
Responsibilities
The Programme Officer will support the organization of RSO events, including developing concept notes, agendas, and outcome reports, and managing administrative aspects like travel and registration. Responsibilities include contributing to research, analysis, and reporting for policy briefs, publications, and grant proposals, focusing on transnational crime and technology. The role involves developing strategic communication materials, such as web stories and social media content, to promote the TCT Programme's work. Additionally, the officer will participate in strategic planning, monitor and evaluate programme implementation, and develop relevant frameworks. Maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders and representing the RSO professionally are key duties. The role also includes performing other directed tasks and contributing to the RSO's Performance Management Framework.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is required. This includes experience in coordinating and facilitating large international workshops/conferences and supporting the drafting, revision, and publication of research on international security, trafficking in persons, or transnational organized crime. Experience in programme planning, monitoring, and evaluation is an asset.
