Job Purpose
This internship role supports the Mental Health, Psychosocial Support, and Intercultural Communication Unit within IOM. The intern will provide essential secretarial and administrative assistance to the Head of the Unit, contributing to the daily management and overall functioning of the unit. This position offers a unique opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience in an international professional environment, developing expertise in migration and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS). The role facilitates a deeper understanding of IOM's work in addressing MHPSS needs for migrants.
Responsibilities
The intern will undertake various administrative and organizational tasks, including assisting with duty travel arrangements, conference documentation, and expense claims. Responsibilities also involve supporting agenda preparation for events, managing administrative necessities like purchases and budget monitoring, and organizing the Head of Unit's daily schedule. The role includes assisting in compiling monthly activity reports, maintaining archives of MHPSS documents, and liaising with editors for publication submissions. Technical duties involve preparing presentations, training materials, and meeting minutes, as well as drafting public information documents, website articles, and reports on MHPSS activities. The intern will also conduct research to support policy papers and collate background information for meetings.
Work Experience
Previous internship or work experience with international organizations (e.g., UN, EU) or national governments in migration or administrative support is advantageous. A demonstrated interest in mental health and psychosocial support within the context of migration is also beneficial.
