Job Purpose
This role is crucial for managing IOM's registration activities and intake processes within the service flow, primarily through the IOM helpline. The incumbent will be responsible for initial contact with migrants, providing essential information about available services in Tunisia, and ensuring accurate data collection. By acting as the first point of contact, this position directly contributes to IOM's mission of promoting orderly migration and assisting vulnerable individuals. The role ensures that migrants receive timely and appropriate referrals for further assistance, thereby facilitating access to vital support services and upholding IOM's commitment to assisting migrants in need.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include answering helpline calls to provide migrants with basic information on services in Tunisia, adhering to internal protocols. The role involves conducting organized registration activities via the helpline, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and data collection systems, and referring beneficiaries to case workers. It also entails referring eligible beneficiaries, including vulnerable migrants and potential victims of trafficking, to relevant services or external providers based on identified needs. The position requires following up with beneficiaries, providing service progress updates, and scheduling appointments. Additionally, the role supports outreach activities, maintains call records and updates the helpline database, and assists in the distribution of non-food items (NFIs) to vulnerable migrants.
Work Experience
Required experience includes working directly with vulnerable migrants, especially those in distress, and compiling/reporting beneficiary data. Proficiency in MS Office, ODK/KOBO, and basic database knowledge is essential. Experience with Excel and databases is also necessary.
Skills
Essential skills include strong communication abilities and knowledge of protection principles and vulnerability determination. Familiarity with IOM’s Mimosa system is considered an advantage.
