Job Purpose
The Migration Health Nurse will be responsible for executing nursing activities within the framework of direct health assistance and the Migrant Assistance and Repatriation (AVRR) program, specifically for medical cases. This role involves providing comprehensive health information and detailed explanations to migrants regarding IOM's health assistance, the migration health assessment process prior to movements, and available treatments and referrals. The nurse will also play a crucial role in identifying and following up on migrants' health needs through history taking, facilitating referrals to doctors and hospitals, and accompanying vulnerable migrants. Additionally, the position contributes to raising awareness about migrants' health rights among service providers and maintaining accurate health assistance records.
Responsibilities
Perform daily nursing activities for direct health assistance and AVRR medical cases. Provide migrants with information on IOM health assistance, pre-movement health assessments, treatments, and referrals. Ensure proper identification and follow-up of migrants' health needs through comprehensive history taking, referrals to medical professionals, and accompaniment of vulnerable individuals to hospitals. Raise awareness among health service providers regarding migrants' right to health. Maintain a register of beneficiaries receiving health assistance. Contribute to health education and counseling for migrants on prevention and management. Support the maintenance and updating of the IOM health database (MiMosa and others), ensuring timely data entry for reporting. Prepare administrative reports and updates on regional health trends. Assist with pre-departure documentation and briefings. Foster collaborative relationships with internal IOM departments, health providers, panel physicians, and NGOs. Collect and share statistical health information with relevant supervisors.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant clinical experience is required for Bachelor's degree holders, and four years for Diploma holders. Experience in clinical nursing, knowledge of preventive care, and disease control principles are essential. Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds is advantageous, as is training or experience in tuberculosis management, mass immunizations, communicable diseases, laboratory testing, or public health.
Skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic, French, and English. High level of computer literacy (MS Office, web-based systems). Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills. Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Capacity to work effectively in a multicultural team environment and build harmonious relationships. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to analyze and interpret data.
