Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide reliable and secure driving services for IOM staff members and visitors, ensuring safe and efficient transportation. The incumbent will manage vehicle maintenance, adhere to safety regulations, and facilitate movement according to authorized routes. This position contributes to the operational efficiency of IOM by ensuring timely and secure transport of personnel and goods, while upholding organizational standards for safety, security, and professional conduct. The role is crucial for supporting IOM's mission by facilitating the movement of staff and resources necessary for its operations.
Responsibilities
Provide secure driving services for IOM staff and visitors, adhering to UN safety and security regulations and authorized routes. Manage daily vehicle maintenance, ensuring roadworthiness through regular checks of critical components, and arrange for timely servicing and repairs. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and ensure it is always in good running condition, with a full tank before departures. Optimize routing for efficient travel to destinations. Facilitate airport pick-ups and assist with immigration and customs formalities. Liaise with local authorities when necessary to ensure smooth vehicle movements. Ensure the vehicle is used exclusively for official purposes and maintain an up-to-date daily logbook. Submit fuel receipts for consumption monitoring. Uphold confidentiality and discretion in all discussions. Implement measures to mitigate security threats to passengers and along transport routes. Deliver and collect goods, mail, and documents as assigned. Follow local regulations in case of accidents and report any issues encountered during trips to the supervisor.
Work Experience
A valid driving license is essential. Required experience includes adequate knowledge of local traffic laws and routes, defensive driving techniques, and previous experience working with IOM or other international organizations.
