Job Purpose
The Protection Associate (AVM) in Tripoli is responsible for implementing IOM's protection activities under the supervision of the AVM Team Leader. This role is crucial for identifying the needs of vulnerable populations, including migrants, internally displaced persons, and returnees, and providing them with essential case management and support services. The position contributes to ensuring humane and orderly migration by addressing protection concerns, facilitating voluntary humanitarian returns, and supporting recovery efforts. The associate will also play a role in capacity-building through training and workshops for local counterparts, reinforcing IOM's commitment to protecting vulnerable individuals in Libya.
Responsibilities
The Protection Associate will conduct regular protection monitoring visits to identify needs and provide case management services, preparing detailed protection reports. They will assist in delivering high-quality case management and referring vulnerable individuals for voluntary humanitarian return (VHR), coordinating procedures with relevant teams and embassies. Responsibilities include updating service mappings, managing internal and external referrals, and responding to emergencies. The associate will support protection trainings, workshops, and curriculum development for government and NGO partners. Maintaining accurate case records in MIMOSA and adhering to data protection principles is essential. The role also involves serving as a designated escort for individuals during protection cases and return movements, ensuring their safety and dignity, and performing other assigned duties while upholding protection principles and IOM policies.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of three years of professional experience in protection and assistance to vulnerable populations. Essential skills include effective organizational abilities, capacity to establish priorities and plans, and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Knowledge of Case Management Software is necessary. Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is required; knowledge of French is an advantage.
Skills
