Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) works with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners to promote orderly and humane migration. In Guatemala, IOM is implementing integral support activities for returned children, involving case management and specialized teams for identification and follow-up across various departments. This role is within the Operations/Humanitarian Services unit.
Job Purpose
This consultancy focuses on Case Management within a coordinated operation to support returned children in Guatemala. The Case Manager will conduct integral support activities, including case visits and management, to identify vulnerabilities and needs, strengthening a comprehensive and collaborative protection strategy. The role involves detailed assessment of living conditions, family dynamics, and resource identification. The Case Manager will also explain available services, provide information, support monitoring tools, and compile qualitative and quantitative reports. This position is crucial for ensuring the well-being and protection of vulnerable migrant children upon their return.
Responsibilities
Conduct coordinated visits to families of returned unaccompanied minors to identify vulnerabilities and support needs. Assess housing conditions, including space, sanitation, and access to utilities. Observe family dynamics and interactions between adults and children. Identify family capacities and resources. Record beneficiary information accurately for database transfer. Explain project services and those of counterpart organizations. Provide project information materials. Support the development and follow-up of monitoring tools. Draft qualitative and quantitative reports detailing beneficiaries, challenges, and findings. Manage and participate in the logistics for visits and supply distribution. Perform other relevant project activities as coordinated with the project manager. Adhere to principles of child rights, non-maleficence, confidentiality, informed consent, and intercultural sensitivity.
Work Experience
One year of relevant work experience, including data collection and management. Experience in data management, especially cleaning, storage, updating, and database management. Practical experience in one-on-one data collection through visits. Experience in logistical processes for coordinating visits and managing supplies is valued. Previous experience with international organizations and NGOs is a plus.
