Gender Consultant Under HREF Project
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related organization established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. In Ukraine, the ongoing war has caused large-scale displacement. The Hromada Reconstruction and Empowerment Facility (HREF) project aims to support community-driven recovery, resilience, and inclusive, gender-responsive durable solutions for conflict-affected communities. This role contributes to the IOM Ukraine PSEAH and Gender Unit Project.
Job Purpose
This consultancy supports the Hromada Reconstruction and Empowerment Facility (HREF) project in Ukraine, focusing on strengthening inclusive programming and fostering a community-led, gender-responsive recovery path. The role will integrate gender, disability, and diversity considerations into project activities, including needs assessments, capacity building, and community engagement. The objective is to ensure that resilience and recovery plans are informed by data, local systems are strengthened, communities regain access to services, and local civil society organizations (CSOs) have improved capacity and resources. The consultant will provide technical, operational, and coordination support to advance gender-related priorities within the HREF project, contributing to the overall goal of promoting durable solutions for displaced populations and conflict-affected communities.
Responsibilities
The Gender Consultant will provide daily technical, operational, and coordination support to advance gender-related priorities within the HREF project. Key responsibilities include coordinating and supporting the roll-out of the Gender and Migration Research Study and the Intersectional Gender Analysis in IOM offices. The consultant will also support needs-based capacity building initiatives, including routine preparation and coordination tasks. Additionally, the role involves supporting project documentation activities and dissemination efforts. The consultant will perform other assigned duties as required. Performance will be evaluated based on the successful implementation of a monthly plan of action and fulfillment of the required time on the job, confirmed through timesheets.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of experience in gender equality, gender mainstreaming, and capacity building within the Ukrainian context is required. Proven experience in conducting gender training needs assessments and designing and delivering participatory training sessions is also necessary.
