Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Türkiye provides humanitarian protection programming for a large migrant and refugee population facing risks like exploitation, abuse, and service access barriers. The Senior Project Associate role, based in Gaziantep and reporting to the Protection Officer (Information Management and Reporting), supports the strengthening of protection information management and reporting systems.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for enhancing IOM's humanitarian protection efforts in Türkiye by strengthening protection information management (PIM) and reporting systems. The Senior Project Associate will systematically collect, manage, analyze, and report on protection data, ensuring adherence to IOM data protection standards. By producing accurate and timely data products, the position supports evidence-based programming and reporting. The role also promotes consistent data management practices and facilitates coordination across the Protection Unit, contributing to the overall quality and effectiveness of protection service delivery for vulnerable migrant and refugee populations.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Associate will assist in implementing and coordinating data and reporting activities for humanitarian protection programming. Key duties include compiling, cleaning, validating, and consolidating protection datasets, while maintaining and updating case management and protection information management systems. The role involves supporting data analysis to identify trends and gaps, and preparing data-driven insights through dashboards, reports, and analytical products. Responsibilities also extend to coordinating with relevant units for data consistency, providing technical support on data tools and systems, and supporting monitoring and evaluation processes. The incumbent will respond to data requests, contribute to system improvements, and support capacity-building activities for staff on data management and reporting.
Work Experience
Required experience includes data management, analysis, and reporting within humanitarian, migration, or development programs. Experience with information or case management systems, data cleaning and validation, and preparing reports/dashboards is essential. Experience supporting M&E processes and handling sensitive data ethically is also required. Experience in humanitarian/protection contexts or with vulnerable populations is advantageous.
Skills
Strong data management and analytical skills are essential, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with data visualization or collection tools. A good understanding of data protection principles is required. The role demands the ability to translate data into clear reports and dashboards, strong attention to detail, good organizational skills, and effective communication and interpersonal abilities for teamwork in a fast-paced environment.
