Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN-related agency established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. IOM Ukraine has been central to the humanitarian response, expanding operations across various sectors including shelter, WASH, cash assistance, livelihoods, and protection. This role supports monitoring activities across the entire IOM Ukraine program portfolio through remote and in-person data collection.
Job Purpose
The Data Collection Field Assistant will support the implementation of monitoring activities across IOM Ukraine's comprehensive program portfolio. This role is crucial for gathering essential data through both remote and in-person methods, contributing to the effectiveness and accountability of IOM's humanitarian response. By ensuring accurate and timely data collection, the assistant helps IOM understand the needs of affected populations and the impact of its interventions. This position operates within the Accountability and Quality Control Unit, directly contributing to the organization's commitment to evidence-based programming and continuous improvement in its services to migrants and governments.
Responsibilities
Conduct data collection, including surveys, key informant interviews, and focus group discussions, via phone or in the field as directed by the supervisor. Accurately enter collected data into designated templates or mobile applications. Systematically verify and correct questionnaires to ensure data quality. Provide daily progress updates and report any challenges encountered. Adhere strictly to IOM's Data Protection and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Principles during all activities. Attend coordination meetings, sharing insights from interactions and field updates. Perform other assigned duties. Key performance indicators include timely submission of high-quality surveys, adherence to ethical data collection practices, attendance at required trainings, and monthly reporting on survey completion.
Work Experience
Experience working with governmental authorities, local or international NGOs, or UN agencies is advantageous. Familiarity with conducting assessments and engaging with communities to understand their needs is required. Knowledge of the context and issues related to the emergency response in Ukraine is an asset.
