Senior Programme Associate

Job Purpose
This role is crucial for supporting the effective implementation of protection field operations within IOM. The incumbent will contribute to the day-to-day programmatic, administrative, and operational aspects of these operations. Key contributions include ensuring effective coordination among various stakeholders, maintaining compliance with organizational procedures, and facilitating timely financial and logistical follow-up. The position directly supports the execution of protection activities, aiming to promote humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all, aligning with IOM's core mandate. The role is supervised by the Programme Coordinator (Protection) and works closely with programme officers, information management, and field staff.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring protection project activities. Compile, analyze, and present project data, highlighting key issues. Monitor budget implementation and propose adjustments. Serve as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with internal and external parties. Draft status reports, identify shortfalls, and suggest corrective actions. Prepare correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and documentation on protection activities. Organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions, including preparing materials and supporting delivery. Respond to information requests and maintain project files. Coordinate with local authorities, partners, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Monitor implementing partners for compliance with protection standards. Provide input for Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and concept papers. Assist in coordinating and monitoring the work of other staff, potentially supervising assigned personnel.
Work Experience
Experience providing administrative, financial, and operational support to humanitarian or protection programs. Experience coordinating with field teams, including follow-up on workplans, documentation, compliance, and reporting. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, IDPs, and victims of trafficking. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or governmental/non-governmental institutions in a multicultural setting is advantageous.
Skills
Proficiency in programme support functions, including administrative coordination, budget monitoring, procurement follow-up, and operational reporting. Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming, project cycle management, and reporting requirements. Familiarity with financial rules and regulations in an international organization. Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage competing priorities. Strong organizational, drafting, and analytical skills with attention to detail. Ability to work effectively with diverse units while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
