Job Purpose
This role is crucial for the successful implementation, monitoring, and reporting of capacity-building activities within the RE2CLID project in Madagascar. The project aims to bolster the resilience and self-reliance of communities affected by climate-induced displacement in Southern Africa and Indian Ocean countries. The Senior Project Assistant will provide essential support in coordinating and executing these initiatives, ensuring effective collaboration with various stakeholders and contributing to the overall objective of addressing the challenges posed by climate change and environmental degradation on vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Assistant will assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities, including compiling and analyzing data to highlight key issues. Responsibilities include monitoring budget implementation, acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, and liaising with diverse units and external parties. The role involves drafting status reports, correspondence, and project documentation, as well as organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Additionally, the assistant will respond to information requests, maintain project files, participate in relevant meetings, monitor implementing partners, and provide input for new project development. Guidance and supervision of other staff may also be required.
Work Experience
Experience is required in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and internally displaced persons is necessary. Prior experience in humanitarian organizations or multi-cultural settings is advantageous. Relevant experience in training and capacity-building, monitoring and reporting on training activities, and supporting the development of training materials is also required.
Skills
Proven ability to coordinate capacity-building initiatives with government institutions, NGOs, and UN agencies. Strong facilitation and communication skills, adaptable to diverse cultural and organizational contexts. Experience in supporting knowledge management, including documenting best practices and lessons learned.
