The RE2CLID project, operating in Sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean Countries including Madagascar, aims to enhance the resilience of communities affected by climate change and environmental degradation. This role supports the project's implementation in Madagascar.
Job Purpose
This Project Assistant role supports the implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the Regional Responses to Climate Displacements in Sub-Saharan Africa (RE2CLID) project in Madagascar. The project's objective is to bolster the resilience and self-reliance of communities facing climate-related disasters and environmental degradation. The position operates under the supervision of the Project Manager and Project Officer in Madagascar, collaborating with regional and country teams. The role is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of project activities aimed at assisting vulnerable displacement-affected communities in the Southern Africa and Indian Ocean region.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities, retrieving, compiling, and summarizing project-related data. The role involves monitoring project budgets, verifying fund availability, and updating budget information. Administrative coordination of project implementation is essential, including liaising with internal and external parties for clearances and follow-ups. The Project Assistant will draft status reports, correspondence, and other documentation, and organize meetings, workshops, and training sessions. Responding to information requests and maintaining project files are also core duties, alongside performing other assigned tasks.
Work Experience
Experience is required in liaising with governmental and international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Prior work with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and IDPs is necessary. Experience in multi-cultural settings with international organizations or NGOs is advantageous. Assisting with logistics, organizing events, and collecting field data are also valuable experiences.
