Job Purpose
This role is integral to IOM's Movement Operations, a fundamental pillar of the organization's mandate since its inception. The primary purpose is to facilitate the organized movement of persons requiring international migration assistance, ensuring their travel is managed humanely and orderly. The position contributes to the successful execution of various IOM programs by meticulously handling all logistical and administrative aspects of migrant and refugee travel, in accordance with agreements with governments and partners. This ensures that beneficiaries receive timely and appropriate support throughout their migration journey, upholding IOM's commitment to providing services and advice to migrants and governments.
Responsibilities
Key duties include accurately recording demographic and biographic information in MiMOSA, confirming travel requests, and securing travel documents according to SOPs. The role involves processing exit permits in coordination with supervisors and authorities, and ensuring timely issuance and dispatch of travel documents. Responsibilities extend to preparing travel-ready documentation for Field Support colleagues and generating reports on service delivery, highlighting any issues and suggesting corrective actions. The associate will also assist in maintaining the MiMOSA database, providing feedback to supervisors, and adhering to IOM's Standards of Conduct, including data protection and PSEA principles. Undertaking duty travel for meetings and training is also required.
Work Experience
Prior experience in Movement Operations, transportation, or management is strongly preferred. Experience within programs involving movement operations, particularly resettlement programs, is beneficial. Familiarity with processing systems like MiMOSA and iGATOR, experience communicating with beneficiaries, and demonstrated knowledge of handling sensitive personal data are also desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer software is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, along with excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. The candidate should be self-motivated, objective-driven, capable of using initiative, and able to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision.
