Job Purpose
The Finance Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the financial and administrative operations of the IOM Country Office in Copenhagen. This position is integral to ensuring the efficient use of financial resources and adherence to IOM's financial regulations and procedures. The incumbent will assist in managing financial resources, monitoring budgets, processing payments, and maintaining financial records. Responsibilities
The Finance Associate is responsible for assisting in the management of financial resources, including monitoring and controlling assets, reserves, and funds in compliance with IOM regulations. This includes supporting the preparation of annual budget submissions and revisions, and accurately inputting financial data into accounting systems. The role involves verifying payments and vendor claims for accuracy and adherence to IOM policies, creating new vendor accounts, and performing claim verifications against supporting documentation. Additionally, the Finance Associate assists in preparing financial reports, provides support for staff travel and expense claims, ensures the systematic completion of accounting documents, manages the office's petty cash, and performs other related duties as required to maintain efficient financial operations.
Work Experience
Requires experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative support, including payment processing, financial document review, and record maintenance. Experience with financial/accounting systems for data entry and budget support is necessary. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international organizations is advantageous. Knowledge of financial rules, procedures, and internal controls is also required.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle/WAVE is advantageous. Strong attention to detail for organizing financial documentation. Ability to handle confidential information discreetly and professionally. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working in a multicultural environment and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
