Job Purpose
This Finance Associate position is crucial for supporting the mission's financial operations within the IOM Sub-Office in Istanbul. The role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of financial transactions, adherence to IOM's accounting rules and procedures, and providing timely financial support to various departments. By meticulously reviewing payment requests, verifying supporting documents, and managing operational advances, the incumbent contributes to the smooth functioning of the sub-office and the effective delivery of IOM's migration services. The position plays a key part in maintaining financial integrity and supporting the overall objectives of the organization in managing migration.
Responsibilities
The Finance Associate is responsible for reviewing and verifying all payment requests, ensuring compliance with IOM accounting rules and procedures, and confirming the delivery of goods/services before payment. This includes processing travel claims according to IOM guidelines, applying correct DSA rates and exchange rates, and ensuring proper documentation. The role involves entering transactions in WAVE with correct coding and cost distribution, and updating relevant units on WBLs. The Associate will participate in improving internal controls and finance service delivery, and prepare weekly payment schedules, coordinating with other departments for operational advances. They will also perform operational advance calculations and cash payments, conduct weekly cash counts, and ensure timely preparation of payment documents to minimize vendor account balances. Assisting in financial and statistical report preparation and ensuring compliance with IOM finance policies are also key duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes knowledge of financial and cash handling tasks. Familiarity with Excel spreadsheets, word processing, and other computer tools is also necessary for this role.
