Organizational Context

This role operates within the Regional Office, contributing to resource management functions under the supervision of the Supply Chain Officer.

Job Purpose

This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of IOM's transportation services within the Regional Office. The Chauffeur is responsible for the secure and timely transport of personnel and goods, maintaining the assigned vehicle(s) in excellent operational condition, and adhering to all driving regulations and IOM policies. By managing vehicle maintenance, ensuring roadworthiness, and keeping accurate records, the Chauffeur directly supports the logistical needs of the organization, enabling the smooth execution of IOM's mission. The position also involves assisting with mail delivery, airport pickups, and potentially simple clerical duties, underscoring its integral role in the daily functioning of the office and its commitment to providing a safe and productive work environment.

Responsibilities

Key duties include operating assigned IOM vehicles safely and efficiently, managing daily vehicle maintenance to ensure roadworthiness, and arranging for minor repairs and cleaning. The Chauffeur is responsible for ensuring vehicles undergo regular servicing and maintaining an inventory of spare parts. This role involves identifying the safest and most direct routes, ensuring vehicles are used solely for official purposes, and preparing daily log sheets and monthly reports on mileage and fuel consumption. Confidentiality regarding IOM matters is essential. The Chauffeur will also facilitate airport pickups, manage the collection and delivery of mail and documents, and may assist with basic clerical tasks as needed, all while being vigilant about potential security threats.

Work Experience

Required experience includes knowledge of driving rules and regulations, experience driving various makes and models of vehicles, and proficiency in performing minor vehicle repairs. Familiarity with radio, email, and telephone applications is also necessary.
