In Uruguay, IOM collaborates with partners to enhance the national response to trafficking in persons, focusing on victim-centered and trauma-informed approaches. The Programme Assistant (Protection) provides administrative and logistical support to initiatives for identifying and protecting vulnerable migrants, particularly trafficking victims.
Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant (Protection) provides essential administrative and logistical support for IOM's initiatives in Uruguay aimed at identifying and protecting vulnerable migrants, with a specific focus on victims and potential victims of trafficking in persons. This role contributes to strengthening the national response to trafficking in persons, aligning with international standards and victim-centered principles. The incumbent supports the implementation of project activities that enhance prevention, prosecution, and assistance efforts, working under the supervision of the Head of Office and in coordination with the Protection Unit. The position is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of protection services and upholding IOM's guiding principles in a complex operational environment.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant (Protection) will provide administrative and logistical support for case documentation, including maintaining records and referral documentation. Responsibilities include supporting socio-economic, sociocultural, and community-based integration activities for vulnerable migrants and trafficking survivors. The role involves compiling data for reports, monitoring tools, and statistics, and assisting with procurement and logistical processes. Maintaining protection files, SharePoint directories, and databases according to SOPs and data protection standards is key. Additionally, the incumbent will support workshops, capacity-building activities, and liaison activities with governmental counterparts and partners, while also managing general inquiries and archiving documentation.
Work Experience
Prior experience supporting activities related to migrants or in protection-related contexts is required. Experience with administrative and operational processes, including procurement, logistics, documentation, or financial procedures, is necessary. Proficiency in office software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience maintaining spreadsheets and databases are essential. Experience supporting administrative control or documentation procedures is also required.
Skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management. Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse individuals. Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a protection-focused approach. Self-motivated, proactive, and able to meet deadlines. Flexibility and adaptability to evolving operational needs.
