Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Rwanda, established in 2008, partners with the Government to address a significant influx of returnees from the DRC. This influx strains local systems and exacerbates existing socio-economic fragilities and disaster risks. IOM supports strengthening social cohesion and building resilient communities through an evidence-based, community-driven approach.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate supports the implementation of projects aimed at building resilient and cohesive communities in Rwanda. Working under the Head of Programmes and Project Manager, this role is crucial in addressing the challenges posed by a significant influx of returnees, particularly women and children. The position contributes to strengthening social cohesion and enhancing community resilience against socio-economic fragilities and climate-related shocks. The role involves close collaboration with government entities, local partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery and support the government's efforts in reintegration and community development.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Associate will assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities, ensuring effective implementation. Key duties include compiling and analyzing project data, monitoring budget execution, and proposing adjustments. The role involves acting as a focal point for administrative coordination, liaising with diverse units and external parties, and drafting status reports and correspondence. Responsibilities also encompass organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, preparing materials, and delivering capacity-building support. The associate will respond to information requests, maintain project files, and participate in relevant meetings. Additionally, the role requires monitoring implementing partners, contributing to SOPs and concept papers, and potentially supervising other staff.
Work Experience
Four years of relevant professional experience is required for candidates with a Bachelor's degree. Six years of relevant experience is required for candidates with a school diploma. Experience in project implementation, coordination, and monitoring within the context of migration, development, or humanitarian aid is likely beneficial.
