Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a UN-related organization dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. The Migration and Development in North Africa (NAMAD) project, funded by FCDO, aims to strengthen interventions for returning migrants in Guinea. This role supports the project's implementation under the Chief of Mission, Programme Manager, and Counter-Trafficking and Protection Officer.
Job Purpose
This Project Assistant role is crucial for the successful implementation of the NAMAD project in Guinea, focusing on the sustainable reintegration of migrants and vulnerable returnees. The position supports protection-sensitive return and reintegration procedures, socio-economic reintegration initiatives, and strengthens cooperation with national and local stakeholders. The incumbent will provide essential support for project activities, oversee partner work, monitor external service providers, and act as a liaison with government and civil society partners at local and community levels, ensuring the project's objectives are met effectively.
Responsibilities
Provide administrative and logistical support for project activities, including beneficiary registration, documentation, and data entry. Assist in organizing project events such as workshops, trainings, and meetings. Support procurement, logistics, and administrative processes in coordination with relevant units. Collect, consolidate, and perform basic analysis of data for monitoring and reporting. Maintain organized physical and electronic project documentation. Assist in preparing internal updates and donor reports. Support senior staff during field missions and monitoring visits. Ensure timely communication within the project team and liaise with other units as needed. Perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Six years of relevant professional experience is required with a secondary education, or four years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated experience in reintegration, project implementation, and coordination is essential.
Skills
Strong organizational and coordination skills. Proven ability to monitor quality, performance, and compliance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including coaching and feedback. Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
