Job Purpose
This internship focuses on supporting IOM's efforts in the Prevention of and Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment (PSEAH). The role contributes to IOM's commitment to a safe and respectful workplace and aligns with UN and Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) initiatives. The PSEAH strategy encompasses leadership, accountability, capacity development, victim assistance, and partnerships. The intern will gain practical experience in information management and contribute to the operationalization of PSEAH strategies, enhancing the organization's ability to address these critical issues globally and at the country level.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide Information Management (IM) support to the Shelter, Land, and Site Coordination (SLSC) Cluster, assisting with data collection tools, data management, analysis, and information product development. Key duties include supporting digital platforms (Power Apps, SharePoint, Power BI), adapting software tools, and implementing machine learning for data analysis. Responsibilities also involve compiling and validating data from various sources, producing standardized information products like maps and dashboards, and providing technical support to partners on IM tools and Microsoft 365 solutions. The role ensures adherence to data standards and protection protocols, supports data disaggregation (gender, age, vulnerability), and contributes to PSEAH initiatives, trainings, and working groups.
Work Experience
Demonstrated interest in Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment (PSEAH), safeguarding, protection, gender-based violence, child protection, or accountability to affected populations is required. Experience in administrative support, coordination, research, drafting, or event organization is an asset. Exposure to multicultural or international environments is desirable.
Skills
Strong organizational and administrative abilities with attention to detail. Excellent writing skills for drafting clear and concise documents. Ability to synthesize information and conduct basic research. Familiarity with PSEAH concepts or willingness to learn quickly. Strong interpersonal skills for collaborative teamwork. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital workspaces (Teams, SharePoint). Fluency in English is required; working knowledge of another IOM official language is an advantage.
