The Programme Support Unit (PSU) in Nigeria offers administrative, technical, and operational support to IOM Nigeria's programmes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and the Nigeria UNSDCF.
Job Purpose
This internship programme aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration, development, or related fields. The intern will support the Programme Support Unit (PSU) in IOM Nigeria, contributing to the effective planning, coordination, reporting, and monitoring of programmes. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in an international multicultural environment within the UN system, enhancing understanding of IOM's work and contributing to the formulation and editing of institutional strategies and work plans. The intern will assist in daily programme support tasks, documentation, and coordination, gaining valuable insights into international cooperation and migration management.
Responsibilities
The intern will assist in daily programme support tasks under the supervision of PSU staff. Key duties include organizing and maintaining programme documents, files, and records; supporting the preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing notes; and tracking programme activities, timelines, and deliverables. The role involves monitoring and documenting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for ongoing projects, supporting the coordination of meetings, workshops, and programme events, and liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required. The intern will also perform other programme-related tasks assigned by their supervisor, gaining experience in organization, management, and international cooperation activities.
Work Experience
Experience in programme support, administration, or development projects through academic projects, internships, or volunteer work is desirable. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
Skills
Strong written and verbal communication in English. Good organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail. Interest in migration, development, or corporate social responsibility.
