The Programme Support Unit (PSU) in IOM Nigeria offers administrative, technical, and operational support to the country's migration programmes, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and the Nigeria UNSDCF.
Job Purpose
This internship within the Programme Coordination and Innovation (PCI) unit aims to attract talented students and graduates interested in migration and IOM's work. The intern will gain practical experience by supporting the Programme Support Unit (PSU) in IOM Nigeria. The PSU is responsible for providing essential administrative, technical, and operational assistance to the country's migration programmes. This role contributes to the effective planning, coordination, reporting, and monitoring of these programmes, ensuring they align with IOM's overarching strategic goals and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for Nigeria. The internship offers a valuable opportunity to learn within an international multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
The intern will provide daily support to the Programme Support Unit (PSU) under the supervision of assigned staff. Key duties include organizing and maintaining programme documents, files, and records. The intern will assist in preparing reports, presentations, and briefing notes, and will help track programme activities, timelines, and deliverables. Responsibilities also involve monitoring and documenting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for ongoing projects. Additionally, the intern will support the coordination of meetings, workshops, and programme events, and assist in liaising with internal and external stakeholders as needed. Any other programme-related tasks assigned by the supervisor will also be undertaken.
Work Experience
Experience in programme support, administration, or development projects is desirable, which can include academic projects, internships, or volunteer work. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
Skills
Strong written and verbal communication in English. Good organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail. Demonstrated interest in migration, development, or corporate social responsibility.
