Project Associate (AVR Hub)
Organizational Context
IOM Cyprus is establishing an Assisted Voluntary Return (AVR) Hub to offer safe, specialized temporary accommodation and pre-departure support for migrants returning voluntarily. The Hub focuses on vulnerable individuals and families, facilitating pre-departure procedures in coordination with national authorities and partners. This role operates under the direct supervision of the National Project Officer.
Job Purpose
The Project Associate (AVR Hub) plays a crucial role in the operational management of the Assisted Voluntary Return Hub in Cyprus. This position is integral to providing dedicated, safe, and specialized temporary accommodation and pre-departure support for migrants, particularly vulnerable individuals and families, preparing for voluntary return. The role ensures the smooth functioning of the Hub by overseeing administrative processes, coordinating teams, and facilitating essential services. By supporting the completion of pre-departure procedures and safeguarding beneficiaries' rights, the Project Associate contributes directly to facilitating timely and dignified departures, aligning with IOM's mission to promote humane and orderly migration.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate is responsible for assisting in the administration of the AVR Hub, providing guidance to staff and sub-teams, and proposing/supervising the implementation of efficient internal procedures. This includes coordinating and supervising various role-based sub-teams and the overall personnel within the Hub. The role involves liaising with internal and external stakeholders and relevant departments to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, the Project Associate will oversee and facilitate the maintenance and implementation of the Hub's procurement plan, as well as monitor catering, cleaning, and security services to ensure contractual obligations are met. Any other assigned duties are also part of the role's scope.
Work Experience
Demonstrated experience in project/program management is required. Proven ability to work effectively with intergovernmental organizations, donors, national authorities, and foreign missions is essential. Good computer literacy is also necessary.
