Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a leading intergovernmental organization managing migration globally. Established in 1951, it operates in over 100 countries, working with partners to ensure orderly migration, uphold human dignity, and provide humanitarian assistance. IOM has been active in Morocco since 2001, with its Rabat mission established in 2007.

Job Purpose

The Project Associate supports the Protection and Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants Unit by assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities. This role is crucial for the effective execution of projects, involving administrative coordination, liaison with internal and external stakeholders, and managing project-related administrative actions. The position contributes to IOM's mission of addressing migration challenges and supporting vulnerable migrants in Morocco.

Responsibilities

Key duties include assisting in the implementation and monitoring of project activities for the Protection and Assistance to Vulnerable Migrants Unit. This involves retrieving, compiling, and summarizing project-related data. The role requires monitoring budgets, verifying fund availability, and obtaining necessary approvals. The Project Associate will support administrative coordination, liaising with various units and external parties to initiate requests, secure clearances, and process administrative actions. Responsibilities also include drafting status reports, correspondence, and documentation, organizing meetings and workshops, responding to inquiries, and maintaining project files.

Work Experience

Experience is required in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking is essential. Prior experience in a multicultural setting with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions is advantageous.

Skills

Proficiency in project follow-up and monitoring. Experience working with vulnerable groups is advantageous. Experience in the Middle East and North Africa region is beneficial.
