Senior Field Security Associate

Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. The Field Security Associate operates under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission and technical supervision of the Office of Staff Security (OSS), supporting IOM's activities and security risk management in Cambodia.

Job Purpose

The Field Security Associate provides specialized support to enable IOM's activities and assists the Programme Officer- TRD /Head of Sub-Office with all aspects of security risk management. This role is crucial for establishing and maintaining an appropriate level of security awareness, providing field-level operational guidance, and ensuring the implementation of field activities and movements in accordance with country-specific security guidance and Office of Staff Security (OSS) protocols. The position contributes to the overall safety and security of IOM personnel and operations.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining relationships with UNDSS, government agencies, and local security authorities to gather and verify security information. The role involves assisting in the development and implementation of security and movement plans, including contingency and emergency response plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Associate will conduct field assessments, provide operational guidance, and advise on security measures for field operations. They will support the Warden system, manage communications, and disseminate safety and security information. Additionally, the role involves assisting in reporting security incidents, preparing security reports, and organizing security awareness training. The Associate will also maintain security files, coordinate security measures, and assist in investigations and security risk assessments.

Work Experience

Relevant professional experience in the humanitarian, public, private, or corporate sector is desirable. Experience in security programs, risk assessments, analysis, operational security risk management, investigations, or physical security is also desirable. Experience with radio communications and successful completion of the UNDSS Field Security Associate (FSA) course are considered advantageous.

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including active listening and effective responsiveness.
