Organizational Context

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), established in 1951, is a UN-related agency dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration. It collaborates with governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental partners, providing services and advice to governments and migrants. This role sits within the Recovery and Solutions Unit, reporting to the Senior Programme Coordinator and Project Officer (Labour Market Integration & Formalization).

Job Purpose

The National Project Officer (Enterprise Development and Trade Readiness) is responsible for leading the implementation of cross-border trade-related activities. This involves coordinating project execution, providing operational and technical guidance, and ensuring alignment with IOM policies and donor requirements. The role contributes to increasing project effectiveness by overseeing progress against strategic objectives, developing new project proposals, and building the capacity of staff, partners, and government officials. The position also involves managing information, reporting on project activities, and representing IOM in relevant forums to mainstream migration issues.

Responsibilities

Coordinate the overall implementation of the project, managing financial, administrative, and technical aspects in line with IOM policies and donor requirements. Provide operational guidance and technical supervision to project staff, overseeing progress and recommending improvements. Support monitoring and evaluation frameworks, ensuring regular reporting and impact evaluation strategies. Identify priority areas for project development and contribute to new project proposals by assessing the local context. Supervise project staff, consultants, and implementing partners, and deliver capacity-building activities for staff, partners, and government officials. Liaise with government entities, UN agencies, and other stakeholders. Manage project-related information and visibility, drafting progress and financial reports for donors and stakeholders. Participate in relevant conferences, workshops, and working groups, and contribute to the mainstreaming of migration issues within UN frameworks. Undertake duty travel as required and perform other assigned duties.

Work Experience

Experience in SME development, enterprise support, or trade-related programs. Proven experience in stakeholder coordination with government institutions and private sector actors. Experience in donor-funded programs or international organizations is considered an advantage.
