Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM), a UN agency established in 1951, promotes humane and orderly migration. In Greece, under the 'Helios+' project, IOM collaborates with authorities and partners to integrate third-country nationals into the labour market. This role supports employability initiatives within the Central Greece region, contributing to the 'Central Greece 2021–2027' Programme.
Job Purpose
This role is crucial for facilitating the integration of beneficiaries of international and temporary protection into the Greek labour market. The Employability Facilitator will actively contribute to the 'Helios+' project by providing targeted support for job seeking, including career counselling, employer mapping, and connecting beneficiaries with employment opportunities. The position aims to enhance beneficiaries' access to employment through various activities, including workshops and advising on necessary documentation, thereby promoting their self-sufficiency and social inclusion within Greek society. The role operates under the direct supervision of the Project Team Lead (Employability and Education).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include supporting labour market integration through individual and group career counselling. The role involves mapping potential employers, identifying job vacancies, and cultivating collaborations with private sector entities to enhance beneficiary employability. Connecting beneficiaries with suitable job opportunities is a primary function. Additionally, the position requires participation in organizing employability-focused workshops and events. Advising beneficiaries on documentation needed to improve employment prospects and managing the collection of verification documents are also key duties. Accurate data entry and physical archiving of verification documents are essential, along with performing other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Previous experience in a similar role is required. Candidates should possess a combination of knowledge, education, training, and skills suitable for the position's essential functions. Experience working in a multicultural environment is preferred.
Skills
Proficiency in standard software applications is required. Strong work ethics and a commitment to humanitarian principles are essential. A valid driver's license with at least five years of driving experience is an advantage.
