Senior Project Associate
Organizational Context
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Warsaw, Poland, seeks a Senior Project Associate to serve as a Field Protection Coordinator. This role oversees migrant assistance activities, coordinating protection assistants and caseworkers. The position involves close collaboration with accommodation center managers, the Office for Foreigners, social services, and other stakeholders to ensure dignified protection and human rights access for migrants.
Job Purpose
The Senior Project Associate will function as a Field Protection Coordinator, responsible for overseeing and guiding migrant assistance operations. This involves coordinating the efforts of protection assistants and caseworkers to ensure the effective delivery of protection interventions. A key aspect of the role is fostering close cooperation with managers of collective accommodation centers for Ukrainian refugees, the Office for Foreigners, social services, and other relevant entities. The ultimate goal is to guarantee access to safe, dignified protection and uphold the human rights of all beneficiaries, adapting services to evolving needs and legal statuses.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring Field Protection Team operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery and compliance with IOM standards and donor requirements. The role involves supervising, guiding, and training protection assistants and caseworkers. Responsibilities also encompass drafting correspondence, preparing reports, identifying service gaps, and proposing corrective actions. The Associate will monitor budget implementation for field protection activities, serve as a focal point for administrative coordination, and organize meetings and training sessions. Additionally, they will liaise with diverse stakeholders, monitor implementing partners, contribute to SOP development, update the referral system, identify cooperation opportunities, and perform other assigned duties.
Work Experience
Required experience includes administrative work, collaboration with finance and procurement, and working with vulnerable groups such as migrants, refugees, and victims of trafficking. Experience liaising with governmental authorities, international organizations, and UN agencies is necessary. Experience supervising a team of at least three individuals is also required. Experience in a multicultural setting is considered an advantage.
Skills
Proficiency in migration-related subjects, particularly protection frameworks in humanitarian settings. In-depth knowledge of social work, social assistance systems, and legal residence statuses in Poland. Excellent understanding of the legal framework for migrants' rights in Poland. Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and cross-cultural interpersonal skills. Client-oriented approach with efficiency and flexibility. Advanced Microsoft Office and administrative skills. Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision. Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.
