The IOM mission in the DRC is implementing various construction projects, including buildings, sanitation facilities, community infrastructure, roads, and water sources, across the Ituri province. This role supports the Bordeland Project.
Job Purpose
The Consultant Supervisor of Construction Works is responsible for the technical supervision, quality control, monitoring, and compliance of all High-Intensity Labor-Only (HIMO) activities, as well as construction and rehabilitation works for infrastructure projects in the DRC. This role ensures that all construction activities align with project plans and specifications, contributing to the successful delivery of essential infrastructure. The supervisor acts as a key liaison between IOM, contractors, and local authorities, ensuring effective communication and adherence to project timelines and quality standards. The position is crucial for the successful implementation of infrastructure development within the Bordeland Project.
Responsibilities
The Consultant Supervisor of Construction Works will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating construction and rehabilitation works, providing daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports. They will serve as the interface between IOM and contractors, ensuring continuous, effective, and transparent communication. The role involves sensitizing service providers on local labor utilization in collaboration with local authorities, overseeing construction work, and receiving equipment and materials after quality control. The supervisor will receive completed works, ensure conformity with tender documents and construction plans, and supervise operational teams and contracted companies. Additionally, they will sensitize beneficiaries on infrastructure maintenance, monitor environmental and social safeguard measures, and ensure the sustainability of project actions.
Work Experience
Requires at least 4 years of professional experience in supervising public works and construction. Experience with local construction companies, HIMO approach, and applying health, safety, and environmental plans on construction sites is necessary. Familiarity with project intervention areas and experience with UN agencies or international NGOs is desirable.
