Job Purpose
The Senior Private Sector Engagement Officer in Washington D.C. is responsible for developing and managing partnerships with private sector stakeholders to mobilize resources and foster innovative collaborations. This role contributes to IOM's strategic priorities by securing funding, enhancing migrant protection, and leveraging business expertise for global program implementation. The officer will lead the implementation of IOM's Global Private Sector Strategy within the U.S., driving fundraising efforts and strengthening relationships with corporate partners and foundations to support IOM's mission.
Responsibilities
Lead the implementation of IOM’s Global Private Sector Strategy in the U.S., aligning with Washington's priorities and developing a results-driven U.S. Private Sector Fundraising and Engagement Plan with clear income targets. Identify, cultivate, and solicit funding agreements from U.S. corporations and foundations, managing the fundraising pipeline from prospect qualification to closing deals. Contribute to global pipeline forecasting with accurate revenue projections and performance updates. Design and execute targeted fundraising campaigns for priority thematic portfolios, preparing high-quality propositions and tailored pitch materials. Strengthen stewardship of U.S. partners through engagement plans and reporting, and represent IOM to the U.S. business community on relevant issues.
Work Experience
Proven experience in private sector partnership development and income generation, with success in mobilizing financial resources from corporations and foundations. Requires in-depth understanding and experience of the U.S. context, corporate social responsibility programs, and building long-term partner relationships. Experience working cross-functionally and understanding private sector priorities is essential.
Skills
Demonstrated influencing skills and confidence to engage high-level stakeholders. Proven track record in private sector partnerships and fundraising, with strong negotiation abilities. Ability to reconcile organizational needs with partner requirements. Strong writing, drafting, and editing skills for proposals and donor correspondence. Ability to develop unique value propositions for private sector partners.
