Organizational Context
IOM Uganda is implementing an e-waste circular economy innovation model, supported by Innovation Norway and partners, to address the growing issue of electronic waste. This initiative promotes repair, reuse, safe recycling, and green livelihood pathways, expanding to new areas and involving a multi-stakeholder coalition. The role supports scaling and institutionalizing this model.
Job Purpose
The National Project Officer – E-Waste will support the coordination, planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder engagement for scaling and institutionalizing IOM Uganda's e-waste circular economy model. This involves providing technical inputs for policy dialogues, capacity development, data generation, compliance, and multi-partner coordination. The role contributes to addressing the risks associated with e-waste and fostering green livelihood opportunities within displacement and host community settings, aligning with national commitments and IOM's strategy.
Responsibilities
Assist in coordinating and monitoring the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of the e-waste project, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. Provide technical support for integrating e-waste and circular economy approaches into national action plans and strategies. Monitor project progress, identify challenges, and recommend corrective actions. Participate in developing work plans, budgets, and M&E tools. Coordinate data collection, analysis, and information management. Prepare and disseminate project reports and communication materials. Liaise with government counterparts, UN agencies, partners, and donors. Contribute to planning and delivering capacity-building activities for staff, partners, and communities. Attend relevant meetings and forums. Participate in proposal development and communication product creation. Supervise and provide guidance to project staff. Undertake duty travel for project implementation and monitoring.
Work Experience
Experience liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, UN agencies, and NGOs. Experience working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. Prior experience with international humanitarian organizations or government institutions in a multicultural setting is advantageous.
Skills
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Suite). Proficiency in design software (Canva, Adobe) is an advantage. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, writing, communication, and negotiation skills. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and creativity.
