Senior Programme Coordinator, AICRM *Call for interest* - Short term opportunity for 11 months for Temporary Professional Officer (Readvertisement)

Organizational Context

IFAD is an international financial institution and UN specialized agency focused on eradicating rural poverty and hunger by investing in rural people. The West & Central Africa Division (WCA) oversees IFAD investments and non-lending activities in the region. The GCF AICRM Regional Programme aims to increase resilience and enhance livelihoods of smallholder farmers in seven Sahelian countries through integrated climate risk management.

Job Purpose

To coordinate the Integrated Climate Risk Management Programme (AICRM) in seven Sahelian countries, ensuring effective day-to-day management, coordination with country teams and partners, and alignment with IFAD's strategic objectives for climate resilience and rural development.

Responsibilities

Leads and manages the AICRM Regional Coordination Unit (RCU); ensures strategic direction, planning, and supervision of the programme and country projects; provides quality control and technical guidance for implementation; monitors programme delivery and addresses challenges; identifies synergies and promotes M&E systems; prepares reports and work plans; facilitates stakeholder dissemination and partnership building; manages IFAD resources with integrity and transparency; fosters a high-performing and innovative team environment.

Work Experience

At least 8 years of overall relevant experience, including 3 years in a multicultural organization providing global support. Specific experience in climate resilience and climate risk management, climate adaptation, impacts on livelihoods (agriculture, fishing, small businesses), financing government programs in developing countries with social/environmental safeguards, preparing feasibility studies (especially insurance schemes), and working with international institutions (UN, donors like AfDB, WB, GCF) and government institutions is required. Experience in organizing stakeholder consultations, developing country experience, and working in the Sahel Region are assets.
