Organizational Context
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is a UN specialized agency focused on eradicating rural poverty and hunger by investing in rural people. The Office of Technical Delivery provides expert guidance for project design and implementation, ensuring high technical quality and dissemination of knowledge. The Sustainable Production, Markets and Institutions Division (PMI) focuses on improved delivery of IFAD's mandate through quality design and implementation of policies, strategies, and projects, covering themes like natural resource management, land and water, and agroecology.
Job Purpose
To provide expert technical guidance and support in Natural Resource Management (NRM), land and water governance, and agroecology for IFAD's Asia and Pacific Region (APR). The role involves contributing to the design and implementation of projects and programmes that enhance resilience, income, food security, and nutrition for rural communities, while ensuring compliance with IFAD's mandate and safeguards.
Responsibilities
Provide authoritative technical advice to country programmes in NRM, land and water governance, and agroecology; act as Technical Lead for project designs; participate in missions and provide technical guidance for project implementation; develop and maintain partnerships with relevant organizations; generate and disseminate knowledge and best practices; contribute to policy engagement and represent IFAD in technical fora; support capacity development and training activities; contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of technical components; lead and contribute to corporate initiatives; provide people management support, coaching, and mentoring.
Work Experience
At least five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in development initiatives related to NRM, land and water infrastructure and governance, including formulating technical guidance for agriculture and rural development programmes. Two (2) years of experience in a multicultural organization providing global support. Demonstrated technical skills in NRM, land and water infrastructure and governance applied to rural development projects. Familiarity with IFI safeguards and experience with the private sector are strong assets. Experience in international policy frameworks related to global environment, natural resource management, and rural development is an asset.
