Organizational Context
The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international financial institution and a specialized United Nations agency dedicated to eradicating rural poverty and hunger by investing in rural people. It finances programmes and projects that increase agricultural productivity and raise rural incomes. The Department for Country Operations (DCO) oversees IFAD investments, and the East and Southern Africa (ESA) Regional Division leads on the design and delivery of IFAD country and regional programmes in its coverage area.
Job Purpose
The incumbent provides reliable and safe driving services to IFAD staff, officials, and visitors, ensuring high standards of discretion, integrity, protocol, and security. Additionally, the role involves providing registry and clerical services, demonstrating a client-oriented approach and tact while working with diverse national and cultural backgrounds.
Responsibilities
Ensure reliable and safe driving services for IFAD staff, officials, and visitors, including vehicle maintenance, daily logs, minor repairs, and compliance with regulations in case of accidents. Maintain the office registry system, including filing, archiving, document scanning, managing file movements, and preparing related correspondence. Provide travel support by preparing authorizations and clearances, and manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, including pouch services, registration, coding, and dispatch. Uphold IFAD's core values, code of conduct, integrity, and transparency in resource administration.
Work Experience
At least two years of progressively responsible experience in administration and as a driver, including three years specifically as a driver; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations; skills in minor vehicle repair; and proficiency with computer and office software packages (MS Word, Excel).

Security management; controlled land vehicle operation, including in difficult situations; knowledge of driving safety issues, defensive driving, and relevant laws; physical and mental capability for driving; risk management; adaptability and flexibility; basic ICT and digital fluency; collaboration; initiative and good judgment (especially on security matters); effective listening; clear, succinct, convincing, professional, balanced, and diplomatic verbal communication; excellent knowledge of regional language.
