Organizational Context

The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is an international financial institution and UN agency focused on eradicating rural poverty and hunger through investments. The Office of Audit and Oversight (AUO) enhances organizational value by providing independent assurance and advisory services, evaluating risk management, control, and governance, and investigating irregular practices.

Job Purpose

The Senior Audit Officer is an authoritative expert responsible for audit management, including innovative design of audit methodology, implementation, and oversight. S/he leads internal audits and advisory engagements to enhance IFAD's operational effectiveness, risk management, internal control, governance processes, and ethical culture.

Responsibilities

Contribute to defining audit objectives, strategies, policies, and annual plans based on risk assessment and international standards; Communicate AUO's experience and professional viewpoint to Management and Governing Bodies; Lead complex strategic, risk-based assurance and advisory engagements, defining scope, recruiting experts, and supervising teams; Promote good governance practices in IFAD, ensuring compliance with policies and standards; Manage people, resources, knowledge, and information technology within the audit team.

Work Experience

At least eight (8) years of progressively more responsible professional experience in auditing programmes in International Organizations or International Financial Institutions. A professional qualification in audit (CPA, CFA, CA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent) is required.
