Organizational Context

IFAD is a leading funder for agricultural and rural development, addressing climate risks. This role supports IFAD's partnership in the Great Green Wall Initiative, specifically a Regional Support Program aiming to enhance knowledge management and digital innovation for GCF/GEF/AF projects across 11 Sahel countries.

Job Purpose

To support the National Great Green Wall Agency and Green Climate Fund (GCF) and Global Environment Facility (GEF) focal points in implementing regional support program activities, focusing on knowledge management, communication, and policy dialogue coordination for national authorities and GGW agencies/coalitions.

Responsibilities

Identify, capture, and share relevant knowledge and disseminate information on progress; support GCF/GEF/AF Accredited Entities in uploading knowledge products and promoting platform use; generate knowledge products to disseminate lessons learned and good practices; organize knowledge exchange activities and coordinate communities of practice; strengthen coordination and programming among national GCF designated authorities, AEs, GEF, AF, and GGW national focal points; advise the Regional Coordination Unit on relevant publications and aid dissemination; support the development of national knowledge management and learning strategies for GCF, GEF, AF projects; support focal points in developing national KM platforms and generating knowledge products; support the country office in KM and communication activities; support national inventories, capitalizations, and syntheses in the GGW area; establish and maintain contacts with key media and GCF NDA communication services; prepare national factsheets/case studies to promote project results; ensure the GGW project webpage is updated and linked to institutional websites; develop and maintain a GGW events calendar; technically support the National GGW Agency (ANGMV) in strategic and operational activities.

Work Experience

Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in knowledge management and communication in international development, with a track record of producing diverse communication tools and materials. Good knowledge of media technology, web-based management systems, social media for public information/advocacy, and a strong ability to translate technical information for various target groups. Experience in multi-stakeholder facilitation, and the design of knowledge management strategies and operational plans is required. Experience in communication and knowledge management related to agriculture and climate change, or with projects from major climate funds (GCF, GEF, AF) is an asset.

Skills

Strong knowledge of information management issues in project management and challenges faced by rural economies in developing countries. Good knowledge of media technology, web-based management systems, and social media for public information/advocacy. Strong ability to translate technical information for diverse audiences. Experience in multi-stakeholder facilitation and designing knowledge management strategies and operational plans. Knowledge of the Great Green Wall Initiative and its actors is desired.
