Price Survey Consultant
Organizational Context
On behalf of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is conducting a comprehensive price survey to determine the cost of living for United Nations common system staff in Canada. The survey involves collecting market price data for a basket of goods and services from selected outlets in Montreal. The consultant will support two pricing teams in Montreal over a period of 10 working days.
Job Purpose
To assist pricing teams in planning and collecting market price data for a basket of goods and services in Montreal, contributing to the determination of the cost of living for UN common system staff.
Responsibilities
Assist pricing teams in planning and collecting prices from identified stores and outlets. Provide information on local market conditions. Ensure collected prices match approved outlets and item specifications. Review outlets for accuracy and advise on suitable alternatives. Assist in accessing outlets and obtaining permission from store managers. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Essential: Shopping experience with knowledge of the Montreal market. Ability to travel to outlets using public transport or own means. Desirable: Experience in price collection or with a statistical agency. Experience within an international organization, government, or the UN system. Availability to complete the job within the given timeframe.
