Organizational Context
The Regional Office is primarily responsible for maintaining continuous liaison with the States to which it is accredited and with appropriate organizations, regional civil aviation bodies and sub-regional bodies and UN Agencies and programmes. The Regional Office ensures interregional coordination and promotes the timely and harmonized implementation of ICAO policies, decisions, Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) and air navigation plans. The Regional Office also provides technical guidance and assists States with implementation. The position reports to the Administrative Officer who is in charge of the Administrative and Financial aspects of the Regional Office; ensuring the smooth running of the daily requirements of the Office and the official needs of the staff.
Job Purpose
To provide transportation services for the Regional Director, staff, guests, and visitors, and to perform messenger services, administrative support, and general maintenance tasks for the Regional Office.
Responsibilities
Drives office vehicles for official purposes, ensuring safe and timely transportation. Performs day-to-day maintenance of assigned vehicles, including minor repairs and cleanliness. Maintains daily logs of vehicle usage and records of periodic maintenance. Delivers and collects mail and documents within the Regional Office and to external entities. Provides administrative support for activities such as visa processing and bank operations. Assists with checking office equipment inventory and dispatching correspondence. Controls telephone operator's desk as assigned.
Work Experience
Four to five years of experience as a driver. Good knowledge of the local transportation system, driving rules, and regulations. Some knowledge of administrative rules and regulations in governmental entities, embassies, and banks. Skills in minor vehicle repair. Experience working in a UN or international organization is desirable.
Skills
Knowledge of traffic and driving rules and regulations, local legislation, and effective navigation. Familiarity with local traffic routes and locations. Knowledge of vehicle maintenance. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing and follow instructions. Planning and organizing skills. Judgement and discretion. Teamwork. Accountability. Client orientation.
