Accounting Associate, FIN
Organizational Context
The Finance Branch manages the Organization's financial resources, developing and applying budgetary, accounting, and financial policies, procedures, and controls. It is responsible for the custody and distribution of financial resources, expenditure monitoring, and compliance with International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS). The Accounting Services Section (ASV) handles general ledger and reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Job Purpose
To coordinate the receipt, allocation, and recording of funds, administer recoverable accounts, manage billing and accounts for specific plans, and support year-end closing and audit activities within the Accounts Receivable unit.
Responsibilities
Coordinate receipt and recording of funds for Capacity Development and Implementation (CDI). Administer recoverable accounts for National Delegations. Manage billing and accounts for the Group Medical Benefits Plan (MBP) for retirees. Handle invoicing, monitoring, and reconciliation of Accounts Receivable, including Ancillary Revenue Generated Fund (ARGF) activities. Support year-end closing, audit activities, and continuity of Accounts Receivable operations.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of experience in accounting is required. Experience with analyzing financial data and reports, and applying and interpreting financial rules and regulations is also required.
Skills
Knowledge of computerized accounting systems and office automation, aptitude for accurate figure work, professionalism, teamwork, communication, planning and organizing, accountability, and client orientation.
