Consultant - Procurement and Supply Chain Management
Organizational Context
The Department of Management (MT) provides essential services supporting the IAEA's scientific and technical programmes, acting as a business enabler focused on change and efficiency. The Office of Procurement Services within MT manages annual procurements exceeding 180 million Euros, sourcing specialized equipment, construction services, and laboratory supplies for both the IAEA and its Member States.
Job Purpose
The Office of Procurement Services (MTPS) is seeking a procurement consultant to lead and implement significant procurement projects and address supply chain challenges. This role is crucial for enhancing MTPS's procurement framework. Reporting to the Team Leader(s), the consultant will leverage specialized procurement expertise to support project procurement teams, ensuring efficient and effective acquisition of goods and services vital to the IAEA's operations and Member State support.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide expert technical and procurement guidance, collaborating with and coaching technical officers across client departments to define project requirements and procurement strategies. Key duties include conducting in-depth market research, strategic sourcing, and supplier analysis. The role involves developing and advising on procurement strategies and risk mitigation plans, identifying opportunities for standardization and long-term agreements. Additionally, the consultant will offer specialized advice during procurement evaluations, prepare procurement documentation and reports, conduct price analysis and due diligence, and track supplier performance metrics. Support will be provided for complex tenders and policy matters, contributing to the continuous improvement of procurement practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressive professional experience in high-volume procurement operations is essential. Experience in project coordination, supply chain management, logistics, or developing action plans is advantageous. Familiarity with international trading practices and sectors relevant to the Agency's mandate is also beneficial.
