Organizational Context
The Department of Safeguards is the IAEA's nuclear inspectorate, dedicated to global non-proliferation efforts. It ensures no diversion of declared nuclear material and no undeclared activities. The Office of Information and Communication Systems (SGIS) provides essential ICT services, including project management, solution development, infrastructure operation, and security, enabling the Department to fulfill its mandate.
Job Purpose
The Software Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for ensuring that development activities adhere to established Divisional policies, processes, procedures, and standards. This involves defining, collecting, and analyzing quality metrics to enhance processes and products. The role also includes participating in design reviews, testing, configuration control, problem resolution, and change control. Furthermore, the engineer contributes expertise in quality assurance to drive and facilitate process improvement initiatives within the Division, ensuring high standards for all software products and services.
Responsibilities
The Software Quality Assurance Engineer ensures the quality of relevant projects and products through comprehensive reviews and audits of all active projects. This includes verifying that deliverables meet or exceed established quality criteria. The role involves active participation in software testing, analysis of test results, and refinement of testing procedures. Independent reviews of project planning documents and acceptance procedures are also key functions. The engineer will define and collect quality metrics, analyze trends, and prepare inputs for quality status reports. Additionally, they will assist the quality assurance manager in coaching and supporting development teams within the Division to foster a culture of quality.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of practical, relevant working experience is required, with at least two years specifically in software quality assurance and/or quality control. Experience in computer science, information technology, or a related field is essential.
Skills
Proficiency in communication, achieving results, client orientation, and commitment to continuous process improvement. Expertise in data analysis and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) is required. Familiarity with software configuration management tools such as TFS and VSS is also necessary.
