Organizational Context
The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) is responsible for the IAEA's nuclear safety and security program. This program aims to protect people and the environment from radiation exposure and addresses the needs of Member States in these critical areas. This role supports the ODDG-NS within this department.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to enhance financial monitoring, forecasting, expenditure review, and management reporting within the Department of Nuclear Safety and Security. The consultant will develop practical dashboards, tracking tools, and utilize AI-supported methods to improve budget accuracy and facilitate evidence-based decision-making. The work will empower staff to effectively review financial data, identify variances, implement follow-up actions, and generate timely management insights, thereby strengthening financial oversight and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
The consultant will develop a comprehensive financial monitoring dashboard that tracks budget allocation, expenditures, commitments, forecasts, available balances, implementation rates, and key variance indicators. Responsibilities include creating a forecasting and expenditure review tool to compare planned, forecast, and actual expenditures, identifying necessary follow-up actions. Additionally, the consultant will produce a periodic financial reporting template, an AI-supported prompt library, and a SharePoint-based tracking structure or prototype, accompanied by a user guide. The role also involves mapping and streamlining administrative processes.
Work Experience
Relevant experience is required in collecting, analyzing, validating, and reporting financial, budgetary, or statistical data. This includes specific experience in forecasting, expenditure monitoring, and variance analysis. Proficiency with data analysis tools like Excel and Power BI is essential.
Skills
Excellent computer skills for data analysis, dashboards, reporting, and document preparation (Excel, Power BI or equivalent). Knowledge of ERP applications (e.g., Oracle) is an asset. Familiarity with results-based management, digital transformation, AI productivity tools, and SharePoint is desirable. Strong numerical, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills are needed. Excellent command of English is required.
